• The Jefferson Press Prize is open to any work of fiction (novel or collection of short-fiction) by any writer who has never published a full-length book and who is not under contract to do so. (Writers who have published books of poetry, translation, literary criticism, children's books, and self-published titles are still eligible to submit.)
• Manuscripts must be at least 40,000 words in length, typed, double-spaced, and printed in single-sided pages. We will also accept bound self-published books.
• The author's name and the names of any publications in which the work appears must be omitted from the body of the work.
• To submit, please send the entry form and the $35 reading fee along with your manuscript. Make checks payable to Jefferson Press Prize. Do not staple checks to the entry form. Please include the entire manuscript, and submit only one work per award. Manuscripts will be recycled, not returned.
• Manuscripts should also include a cover page with your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.
• For notification of the receipt of your submission, include a self-addressed, stamped postcard.
